Plant Resources of South-East Asia (PROSEA) is an international program to disseminate summarized knowledge about useful plants for workers in education, research, and industry. More than 1000 species in South-East Asia are known to yield vegetable products, but only 50 of these have developed into highly commercialized crops. This interactive CD-ROM describes about 100 important vegetables. It holds brief descriptions of 125 species of minor importance and lists 800 species that yield vegetables as a byproduct only. Also included in the hyper-linked program are a database of South-East Asian references, an illustrated glossary of terms, and a geographical information system that displays species distributions and allows geographical search. This authoritative volume is an excellent addition to any scientific library.
